Shaft or belt?
What's better?
Shaft or belt? I know that with belt i may have problems with rocks on the road but is there anything else i should know?

Better?
Neither! Both.
Shaft drive is going to cost less for the distance travelled.

Also.. does it have much effect on the performance if a car has two instead of one speed transmission?

IMO I have had both belt and shaft driven cars and I find that belt driven has a more forgiving transmission and can take the stress of front one-way and solid. Also a little drag helps me keep the car in control without making the brakes fade when racing. Whatever it is, buy the car that your friends has and also local track support. with friends running the same type of car, you can get valuable input from them.
However, if you are planning to just bash your car in a carpark, get a shaft car. otherwise trust me you will hate plucking stones out of the pulleys of the belt.

If you are running a diff in front, then shaft will be a little more efficient. If you run a one way, then belt is the way to go. After having and racing a NTC3 and an MTX3 both using a one way, I can say I very much prefer the belt driven Mugen car. I can go quite fast with both cars, but I finish a much higher percentage of races with the Mugen.

I'm gonna buy a car and i don't know which of these two to get:
The one is with a .12 engine, shaft drive and one speed(mugen msx-3) while the other one has a .15 engine, belt drive and two speed transmission(dont know which model)... Which one would you recommend?
