No T4 '17 yet hopefully soon. There is a '16 model though it will likely be close.

The best setup may not necessarily be with the tire at 0 camber at peak g. The reason being the tire deforms under lateral load which distorts the tire contact patch. This will affect the camber angle at which the tire will develop peak grip.

Hey Bob

Is there an easy way to upgrade 4.2 to 4.3? I've downloaded and installed 4.3 but asking for activation again.

Cheers

Uninstalled 4.3 - and reopened 4.2. It didn't upgrade

Version 4.3 installs separately from version 4.2. So if you install it you will have two versions of RC3. Functionally V4.3 is exactly the same as V4.2. The only difference is in the models that come pre-installed and the open ended trial period. If you are a licensed user and want to run V4.3 that is fine but you will need to do the following to keep all your current models.

1. If V4.3 is installed on the same Computer as V4.2 then the activation code will be the same as the original one. If you have lost the activation code then just send me the Serial Number displayed when you click the “Activate” button.
2. In Version 4.2 on the File Menu click >Backup and save to a folder of your choice. This will backup your database.
3. In Version 4.3 on the File Menu click >Restore and select the same folder as above. This will restore the database saved above and V4.3 will now have the same models as V4.2.
4. Once V4.3 is up and running to your satisfaction you can use Uninstall Programs to remove V4.2 from your computer if you wish.

I did some testing on a TC with an accelerometer installed and the peak lateral g I saw was 2.2g. I'm sure there is more in it than that but that's as fast as I could get. Offroad would certainly be lower, I would guess around 1.5g.

If the lateral g number is to high you will see the chassis bottoming out in the Dynamic simulation.

My recommendation would be 2-2.5g for on-road and 1-1.5g for offroad.

Hey Bob!!

Looking for some extra tips using the program. With cars having some arm sweep/in-board toe, which value of chassis suspension mount point should I pick?

e.g. i have an Xray T4 but should I choose the inner arm position on the basis of the FF or FR position and same goes for rear?

Also any tips when using progressive springs? Should I look to use the compressed C value of the spring?

Thanks!

Adding Front arm sweep will change the wheelbase and ackerman. So 1 deg of rearward sweep will reduce the wheelbase by about 1mm. It will also change the angle of the tierods similar to adding a 1mm shim to the ballstuds.

The T4 model provides different locations for the inner hinge pin positions (X1, Y1 value) which assumes the positions for the front and rear inserts are the same. The position to pick for sweep would be the average between the front and rear insert. So for example if the front was in the -1H and the rear was in the +1H the average would be 0mm so you would select the 0H position. Some combinations will require you to add other positions using the Chassis Manager. In this example the 2mm difference in inner arm sweep would create about 3mm change in wheel base at the end of the arm. The ackerman would also be affected by the 3mm.

For progressive springs all you can do is use the average rating. So if the spring is rated 2.5-2.8 create a new spring in the chassis manager and use 2.65 for the rate.
