They are a little pricey at $26.00 compared to like an Integy, but a nice option for sure. I hope they will work on a TC3, but I don't want to buy one before I know.

I'm not firmiliar with the dual fan for AEs, but the 30x30 Integy fan is a little weak for use on a motor. If you ever develope a bind issue in a run the Integy won't be able to keep up with the added heat generated. It may be ok for an ESC tho. If you are looking for a great fan check out the 30x30 Muchmore Ultra High RPM, it will do twice the job that the Integy does. The only other one that I've found better than the Muchmore is the YR Tornado fan. I run them and my motors have yet to get above 130*.

Sidepiece racing has a killer fan called the Seis. I may have spelled that wrong.

After reading the most recent post on the PROTOform Race Bodies thread it looks like this question is still up in the air...

I have only been in R/C racing for about a year, just finished my first build (FT SC10) now wanting to get something started for On road and I am interested in the VTA class. What would you recommend and a chassis to start with that won't break the bank but yet be able to be competative?

Thanks!

I would give the Associated TC4 club racer a try. It's the best bang for your buck and a very fast set up for VTA.

You can't go wrong with the AE TC4. Run 64p gears so its easy to run a FDR that will be suitable for your track. Everyone has parts for them. Welcome to VTA!

If you want to go new, the Sakura Zero S or Spec-R S1 are decent choices at $110 and $130 shipped respectively (I would recommend the Spec-R over the Sakura).

Otherwise, you can scour the for sale ads for a decent used chassis. The beauty of the class is any chassis will work as speed is limited.

I ran a TC3 for a bit. Did they fix the webbing under the pinion area so you can run bigger pinions? I remember having to dremel out the webbing on the TC3 to make clearance for a large enough pinion to make a 4.0 FDR, and that was with running a 60t Spur (48P though).

No, to run 48p and get any sort of FDR you still have to do it along with motor mount mods, but with 64p you can get deep in the 3s easily. I watched a few guys at the Southern VTA Nats show what they can do by making the A main in an E main size field of talented drivers with the TC4 chassis ( 100% VTA legal )

I recommend it because of the parts availability, most every hobby shop has TC4 parts where as Spec Rs and Sakuras are pretty much mail order for parts.

Team Associated has been working to get ppl into VTA...and with the information given over the last couple of years has got them to re-intro the TC4 Club Racer(roller), and the Reedy Wolfpack 5000 25C lipo...The TC4 and 3, are still winning races across the country...incl major USVTA events.

The good thing is the TC4 has a ton of hop-ups and parts from almost any hobbyshop.
Also the new version has all the info to make it race ready like the web cut as well as other things in the instruction.

Ive choose to run one now as well, even with owning TC3,5,6,6.1,6.1WC...I think this TC4 Club is great for anybody thats looking to get into VTA

I put a rtr tc4 together for my 15 yr old son last night. After minor tuning to our track (shock angle and camber link changes) he turned faster laps with the rtr tc4 than with my serpent S411. He's excited about racing this friday.

We have two TC4 Club Racers, One son is running it in VTA and the other in 17.5 sedan. They are great kits for getting started. If you upgrade to threaded shock bodies and add the sway bars it is rock solid. The threaded shocks are a nice to have not a need to have!

Plus as stated previously... Parts support is much better than some of the other budget chassis.
