Default Electronics upgrade to HPI RS4 Rally

Hi All. I have been running electric off road trucks for about a year now, but recently resurrected a 10-12 year old HPI RS4 Rally car. I would like to upgrade the electronics to modern technology. I'm looking at putting in a Spektrum high voltage servo (I have a 2.4Ghz Spextrum transmitter) and a lipo receiver pack (7.4v). Wondering what you all would suggest for spektrum receiver and a lipo pack? And would I need a regulator or would the HV servo do the trick? Also, is anyone using a lipo cut-off for the receiver pack? Or has a formula for how many races or tanks of fuel before charging the lipo.
Thanks for the help!
