I think the kit solves alot of the electronics installation problems of F1 cars.... plenty of space in front o battery.

keep them pictures coming

Hi, on this step you want to just use a 1mm spacer on the bottom of the post as shown in 17 [E] of the instructions. This should get the hight just right so that the carbon strap just sits close enough to keep the lipo in place Spacers on the bottom also makes it easier to remove the top carbon strap for battery removal- less hardware to deal with.

Looking to grab this kit but haven't got anything to fit it to yet. I'm thinking would it be better to use this kit with a:

f103 and getting some hopups (alloy motor mount etc.)
f104w gp (which seems to have most hopups covered)

I guess what I really want to know though is whether this kit would be better with a f103 or f104 rear end.

Thanks

John

Its the short wheelbase. If you have an F104W, I'd get the F1R. I have a couple highly modified F103s and this is the one I'm looking at.

Think you may have misunderstood what I am asking. I want to know whether the f1ultra is better with a f104 or f103 rear end. According to the exotek website it can fit either.

I don't have a f103 or f104w yet. I am going to buy one of the two to build up this car.

F1R isn't an option for this build as I am intending to use that with my f104 x1.

Hi, I would recommend a 103 rear pod. 103 pod lets you get a lower ride height if you are running small diameter foams. Some 103 rubber tires have a slightly smaller diameter (then 104 tires) so you want the lower ride height of the 103 pod any ways.

Note F104W is just a f103 when it comes to the tires.

The F103/F104 rear pods are nearly identical. The rear pod on the F103 positions the rear axle a few mm further back (sorry, haven't measured. eyeballing it, looks to be about 1-2mm). In other words, your wheelbase would be SLIGHTLY longer with the F103 pod. The ride height is also angled lower on the 103 pod, but the adjustment range is pretty broad using the included spacers.

The shock tower mount on the front of the pod will be slightly different as well, but the exotek kit should have mounting positions for either.

Good luck!

Thanks for the information. Is there a way to use a f104 rear diff with the f103 pod (and can you still use f103 rear wheels)

Yes. They are interchangeable.
