Sometimes the really high quality velcro (not the fuzzy stuff) is pretty good, you just put a piece on say ur ESC and on the spot on the chassis and just pick up and re-apply to different cars. Holds better than servo tape in my opinion...then again this may be as far away from what your tryin to do as possible.

You could also put duct tape first on the chassis then stick your double sided tape on the duct tape. When you need to remove the esc, just run a hobby knife under the ESC first. Then just peel off the duct tape from the chassis.
This is easier to clean up than rubbing off the foam and adhesive with your thumb.
I glued my servo directly to the chassis using rubber cement. very good bonding but still possible to remove it afterwards.

we use VHB tape made by 3M. its really great stuff. we use it for servo, esc, recievers.

The problem I've found, after moving to the UK, is that Shoe Goo and Goop (which is what I use, since you can get it at Home Depot and other DIY stores) is not available outside the US.
The "miracle glue" stuff they sell under various brand names in the UK contains toluene (which is the dangerous funky-smelly stuff in Shoe Goo and Goop) but the glue itself much thinner and is meant to be applied to both surfaces, let it dry a bit then stick it together but I've never had it work for me.
So I had my mom send me like 5 tubes of Goop
Works great! I've even used it for shoes and car repair.
Silicone doesn't work and is very very hard to remove from a graphite chassis!
If you live outside the US and order from Tower Hobbies or another US online shop you might be able to find Shoe Goo, but it will be at a higher price than you can get Goop at US DIY stores. The best bet is to have a friend in the US mail you some. You won't go back to using other stuff!
