Well here is the way SMC says to treat your packs...Since they are SMC batteries..
http://www.smc-racing.com/
go to the SMC Charging section it explains the whole thing..
Hope that helps,

I did the solder job, but the fast guys are tell me that job was a good job, used a Dean's jig.
Bought them in Sept 05
My normal day with batteries
I charge the night before (we start at 11:00am)
pack 1 for heat 1
I peak them at the track just before the race
Run a 5min race
take them out, put in pack 2 for heat 2
Peak
run a 5 min race
take them out, put in pack 1 for heat 3
charge
Run a 5min race
take out, let them cool down, then discharge 10amp, Ice charger
Do the same with Pack2 for the main.
Does that help?

The BatMan works with both NiCd's en NiMH's.
The difference in the label will not be an issue.

Here's my best pack;
Runtime 655 secs
Av-Voltage 7.62
Energy 149
Capacity 5822
Resistance 48
It's a Nosram VTEC 3700 Factory Team pack.
Sometimes the resisitance is lower but this was done in my bedroom as a test, I typically get around 30 m-ohms when discharging after racing.

My battery manager just arrived and tested my oldest pack.
It's an gp 3300.
runtime: 596
Voltage: 7.51
energy: 134
Capacity: 5305
IR: 63.5
Capacity is high but the resistance is a bit high.

Its the battman getting rid of the crystals that build up in the cells, I only get the sound on my older cells.

using spintec on new cells
hi eric and all,
i have had a spintec for nearly a year now and i have to say it has maintained my gp3700's excellently,
i have just brought some new sets of gp4300's and i just wanted to ask eric if it is safe to use the batman on brand new cells?
i know its a miricle on older cells but i dont know about new ones
many thanks in advance kevin
p.s where can i but one of those new chargers in the uk?

Spintec Vs Dynapulse
What's the difference here. I had a Dynapulse but found it did not do much or anthing for my cells, so I have now sold it and have bought a Spintec which I am told is better but it has not yet arrived. Should I expect more from it or is it fantasy ?
On another note here i did find the figures on the Dynapulse were comparable to the 20 amp discharge on my Supernova Competetion charger.. But it was very very slow... and I never heard my cells pop not even old ones..
Regards Daniel

I liked my Spintec so much I bought a second one. I then cycled packs for some other racers who then bought their own.
It'll take about two hours or so to discharge after a race, and Spintec recommend doing it as soon as possible after. However for club racing, there may not be enough time to do all packs, so I usually just do them all the next day. I seem to get the best results by being consistent. After discharging several times I've found that the second stage, when the clicking sound slows down to half speed, gradually reduces. When I originally started the second stage would last up to 40 minutes; now it's from 10 to 20 depending on the pack.
It won't make old packs into new packs; it just improves them, and I've noticed the difference on the track. And with new packs it helps to slow their degradation.

Hello all.
I would like some help in interpreting the results of the Spintec.
I understand the capacity and voltage etc as they are straight forward.
I assume the internal resistance is calulated by the voltage and knowing it's discharge rate (35A).
But what is the energy reading for?
How should I decide which packs are best to race with?
I race 27t so duration is never an issue, I just want maximum punch for 5 mins.

I call bullshit on your stated capacity. 5303mah is IMPOSSIBLE on GP3300s.
