Default Worn out spring for ZX12 idle screw

Hi Mega fans,

The idle screw in my ZX12 moves in & out due to vibration. Therefore, I can't keep my engine at a constant idle speed. I tried to expand the spring that is wrapped around the idle screw but after 2 - 3 tanks, it's loose again. Sometimes, the engine dies in mid tank just because the idle speed is too low.

I wonder if you guys have had this problem before and what home made solution worked for you. My LHS does not have a replacement part.

Thanks a lot.

Try a drop of thread lock liquid , screw and let it cure. This will hold the screw in place and still can tune idle, I had this problem in my P9R the thread was stripped
nail enamel may work too

I would go with Picco/Mega 2033 and P7TC glow plug

Leisure Hour Raceway....2 years old, @ Joilet, Illinois...50 minutes from Ohare airport. If you are around the area, it is a MUST TRY RC track...not to mention, a exact same size off road track (actually, wider...) right opposite to this on road track...plus, a indoor nitro/electric off road track inside the building...

I'm bringing this thread back from the dead .....

Anybody out there still racing the Mega engines? I'm thinking of getting the
ZX21 DS4 EM with matching pipe.

It seems if the team drivers are performing with this engine and the price seems reasonable.

Any feedback please?

Hi,

I have one since a few weeks and I am very very happy with it. Compared to my 35plus21 and to my MAX XL9 TQ (MAX is still brand new), it has a lot of bottom end power and clutch setup is so easy as it could be.
Last week I tested a few pipes and if you want to get the most out of the engine you should try the 2052 with mid. conical manifold.
With 2033 you have a smoother powerband and less fuel consumption.
I dont tested the 2015, but I will do it in 2 weeks.
Laptime was a little bit faster (0.3 seconds) compared to my novas, but I believe this is the result of the better working clutch.

Buy one and enjoy it. You can't go wrong.

The 2015 will be in between the 2052 and the 2033...

If you want max topspeed out of it, try the Picco branded 2033 with Nova 6 fins medium header....

I like the 2015 with medium header best on the Modified engines, and the stock engine I drive the 2052...

hi M7H, based on yr experience on 2033+nova6fins:
more topend=1 tooth less on the pinion?
will the bottom end power be lesser than the stock 2033pipeset?

I didn't really test it myself, but 1 day was at the MACH track and M Salven was there and had a crazy top speed...
I asked him the secret, and that was it! (among others... )
Tried it once, got a bit more topspeed indeed, but I like the 2015 more....
This weekend I had a race, my topspeed was 109.1 Kmh... but MS drove 116 then...... but mind you, topspeed is not the most important, bottom power is!... being fast in the infield, and not the straight end...

Hi M7H,

thank you for your answer.
Is the Picco 2033 the same as the IDM or Mega?
With "Modified" did you mean an EM engine, or an hand modified EM engine.

Thanks
Olli

Picco, IDM or Mega 2033 should al be the same, BUT...
The older Mega 2033 (from 2 years ago) is crap! (don't ask me why)
Thats why I say don't get it unless you know for sure you have a newer batch!...

Yes, with modified, I mean the Edo versions of Mega and Picco, IDM is modified by Ielasi, visible difference between Picco/Mega and IDM is the crankshaft, IDM got more work done on the teardrop, and the intake opening and closing in the crank.
