well thats great....if you want to unleash some horsepower, the nationals at leisure is the place....some of the locals were running a 3.5 in 12th scale and wow....all i can say is "landmissile"...they are possibly the fastest r/c car i've seen...they had to take off there prolite bodies and replace them with regular weight because the bodies were being flatten out down the straight-a-way...really cool to watch.... So feel free to attend the nats and get that special feeling.....

see ya there!!

The cars drove beautifully on the track. It was syrup-prepped Park-n-Ride lot. By no means as big as Leisure Hours. About half the straightaway distance, actually. But, the cars were hooked up, and it was an absolute blast.

I would expect the Nationals track to be well prepared. It has me rethinking my 1/12th scale entry. Why pass up the opportunity to race a fast car on a huge, open, flowing track? I can also say it was really nice to set aside the power anxiety and just drive the car. With a 5.0, the only full-wood part was the straight and then it was all throttle control and finesse through the infield. Exhilarating and challenging.
There should be someone testing a 12th scale this weekend and I know they don't like 17.5 so I would be suprised to see anything slower than a 5 turn.

I have been asked if you enter TC 17.5 are you allowed to run 1/12th Mod. I'm not sure what the ROAR rules are for this. Can anyone help answer this?

$85 per class and it requires ROAR membership. Flyer is here...

I was also just curious to get some clarification on tires. Are we getting limited tires for the Nats? Or are we getting unlimited if we want?

Roar rules provide three sets of tires per class and a fourth if you make the Amain.

But when does this start? At controlled practice or the first qualifier? So if it is the first qualifier, you can use a new set for each practice run, correct? I know this extreme but just asking....

If they are using 3 consecutive hot laps for seeding into the qualifiers like at carpet nats, then I would expect them to enforce tech/tires since it would affect performance and qualifying. If the qualifiers are filled randomly I wouldn't think they would check tires.

+1 for clarification of tire rules. I've never run a big spec tire race before...so any info is helpful.

I keep post 1 up to date as I get information... I'm not part of the race team, just a fellow racer, so I do not have the inside track on information....

in Dallas this year at the carpet nats, starting in controlled practice you had to go through pretech before each time on the track. Tires were one of the things they checked, also when you had to start using your alloted tires.

I used a new set of tires for controlled practice, then a new set in round 1 and round 3.

Thanks Jonesy....How many qualifiers did they run? Just three?
