I have to agree with gee. I only used warmers with tweak but prefer to use FXII without them.

I'll be in Chicago this weekend at LH if anyone wants to show me the ropes! Or if anyone wants to split a room and a car I'll be staying somewhere south of Joliet and flying in and out of Midway. If track time on the asphalt doesn't pan out, are there any other tracks I could drive to within an hours drive?

We never really had a tire rule here. I ran Solaris....Can't remmebr what shore. some other tracks had a tire rule...always the Solaris. The last few races I did run whatever tire they used as handout at the Indoor Champs in Cleveland. You'll get lots of input here. As soon as we find out what tires ROAR is going to allow....most of the guys will be running them. I hear throught the r/c grapevine it's between the Thunderpower rubber and Solaris. We will be glad to see all new guys out. You'll find most of the guys at our track will help in any way possible to make it a fun time while you are here. See ya'll soon!!!

I ran warmers last season...As far as a spec tire such as Solaris I found it beneficial to run warmers when the track/ambient temp was cool outside....but as it became warmer, such as in July/Aug., the car would feel a littel "greasy" when I ran them.

If I were to run this weekend I would definately use them....I have also had great results running two or three hot laps to get the tires warm, just before a qual. again just as long as the asphalt was warm.

There probably isn't another outdoor track within an hour and none that would be open anyway.

If you travel even further, about 1.5 - 2hrs, The Track is a local indoor carpet track.

There is a local series that runs throughout the summer and will visit Leisure. Those are one day races, but provide some pretty good competition in every class. I'm sure many of the local "fast guys" who have made A Mains at nationals will be in attendance to practice for the Nats.

I'll have to see about making one of those as well. I'll be off all summer. The ticket I have now expires April 4th and I have the time this weekend so I'm just going to take it easy and make an adventure out of it.

Do they race any pancar at The Track? I visited the website, but I wasn't sure the info on the front page was up to date. Racing is on Sat or Sunday?

Hey Andrew,

Racing is on Sundays. I'm not sure what's going on this weekend as Eric (owner) will be out of town at a race.

Just let me say Joliet is one of the best facilities I have seen... I have raced both nitro onroad and offroad at their place, and it's a great time. I'm going to try to make it this year...

Due to our ever changing weather, you may want to pack an off-road car also, because Leisure Hours also has a first class indoor dirt track.
