Both cars can be quick with the right setup, driver, and circumstances.
From what I've seen, the Serpent has a little more front end than the Xray. When setup perfectly it could probably be quicker, but the Xray's setup window is much larger. This makes it easier to drive and easier to produce consistent lap times.

I have a Serpent S-411, and it is not true that it has a narrow setup window
After the 5 ever run with the car i found a setup, and i still use it, with minor tweaks. I have used it 4 or 5 different places(only on carpet), high and very low grip, and it worked great! I have uploaded it, and several that have tried it said it works great.
If you have a good ballanced setup, it should work on more than one track.
The car has a LOT og front end grip, but isn't loose in the rear. It respondes well to setup changes, and is easy to drive fast

I am an Xray driver, the Xray is a brilliant car, but then again so is the S411, MI4CX, TRF417, Yok BD-5, TC6 and TCX (apologies if I have missed any others).
The fastest car will ALWAYS be the fastest driver who has the right setup for any given track, you give the car to Volker, Rheinard or Moore and they will win with it, end of.
In 90% of occasions, the car will be quicker than the driver, very rarely is it the other way round!
The only thing people can really compare is the quality of the product, that is where in my opinion, Xray is at the top of the tree, again this is only my opinion. (although the S411 does look excellent itself).

the serpent, in standard form is not an easy car to drive.
in regards to the 2012, I cannot give info as I have not driven it. But out of the xray 2011 and serpent, I bet most people would go quicker on the xray due to being an easy car to drive.

Mmmmnnn I love these threads!!!
The largest factor with any kit is the driver and setup on the car
I have had the privealage of driving the T3,416,417,T3 '11,Mi4CX,Mi4CX.5!
And now the Serpent S411!
The build quality is as good as the Xrays and Tamiyas if not better!
I got to try it for the 1st time this week indoors and was blown away by how good it was out of the box!!
I know as well that I WILL make it better over the next few weeks
So a HUGE thumbs up from me on the Serpent :-)
And no I am not sponsored in any way!
