We were never discussing the sway on dankels car! The original conversation was about Tortoricis "front sway" Niko thought we were talking about the spool! N so he gave us pricing and asked why not use capricorn spool! It was never about anything on dankels car.....tortorici appeared to have a xray sway fitted to his cap.....

Hi guys
Has any one got a good set up using the big bore shocks they could share
I tried them for first time on the weekend an the car was a handful to drive
I'm using stock springs with 1500 Xceed oil 6 hole piston had a lot if steering
Should I go heavier oil or springs thanks

I can tell you that for me the stock way they come is too soft. I used 1 hole front and 2 hole rear with 50wt and it is much better. Also try to start with the 4.6kg springs in the front and 3.8kg in the rear.

I think this will be better. You may want to lower the front upper pins 1 spot also.

Let me know if you try this and it helps.

My experience with the LP shocks:

Last sunday I finally had the time to test the new big bore shocks.
Design and quality is really good, as usual. I did had one piston which was slightly scraping the shock housing so I placed it in the dremel and sanded it a bit with 1000 grit sanding paper.
The fit of the pistons in the shock housing is very close, almost no play in the shockshaft.

The shocks come with 6 hole pistons with 1.2mm holes and 3.4kg 5.5 winding springs.
I also received the new springs and some different pistons.
I build the shocks with the 6 hole pistons and tried different oils to get a similar feel to my normal shocks (3@550). I ended up with 1000cst oil.
For the springs I started with the 4.1kg in the front and 3.9 in the rear. This are in between of the red and black full length springs in term of stiffness.
The car felt good with these settings, but was a bit too easy to drive. Suffered from initial and mid corner understeer. So also fitted the 3.9 springs in the front and this worked really well.
I didn't had time to try the standard springs, I think they are too soft but maybe they will work because of the car will roll a bit less.

I will need to do more testing with oils and pistons but I think my settings are a really good starting set.
So standard 6 hole pistons with 1000cst and 3.9kg springs all around.
The new black edition kit, which has the big bore shocks as standard, comes with 1300cst shock oil. So 1000-1500cst should be a good starting point.

Personally I would first try some stiffer springs, the 3.9kg all around.

Default Must have downloads

I think I just uploaded some must have documents for all Capricorn users:

-Big bore spring chart
-Standard bore spring chart
-Damper analysis
-Geometry analysis

You can find them here (at the bottom):

Default Black Edition in the house :)

Hey guys started the built of the black edition.

To my surprise it came with the heavy split blocks.

Big bore shocks not much bigger, thought they where going to be thicker.

Need some suggestions:

1. Shock length suggestion for rear and front.
2. I used to run mainly red springs all round with front 2 hole & 50wt / rear 3 hole & 55wt what do you guys suggest I run?

Thanks

Default Tips re big bore

Dear all, yesterday was speaking directly with Capricorn and compared to my Red spring allround setup they suggested I use the stock springs with 1500 and was advised to drill a 1mm hole on the upper part of the shock.

Anyone tried drilling a hole on the upper part?

Do you speak for normal or big bore shocks?what piston?i think the hole above the diagram is for no rebound at all.
