Tire/Air evacuation

Tire/Air evacuation
I was wonder what is the preffered method of keeping air from getting trapped in a wheel and tire combo? Is putting a couple small holes in the tire carcass better then some holes in the wheels or vise versa? Ive always used the holes in the wheels but have seen the holes in the tires itself. Interested in your opinions. Thanks!

For 1/8th nitro off-road I prefer to punch holes in the tire and nothing in the wheel. Sling the dirt out using the throttle :-)
Now I'm playing indoors and doing the opposite. My thoughts are it is easy to cover the hole on the wheel if the tires need scrubbing.

You don't want to 'trap' air inside the tire. It is a fine part of your suspension. (Oh $4!t, did I open a can of worms?)

When using the new close cell foam you need to punch holes on the inside of the rim & outside on the tire so the excess air can escape...

For indoors I would say holes in the wheels all the way. Most of the time indoor racing consist of bald tires, and lots and lots of chemical treatment, as soon as some chemical get on them closed cell foams there junk.........
I would rather take a chance of getting some air trapped up in my tires than junk a foam because some chemical got on them.....

No outer vent holes and the tire can & does balloon with air...

i mounted a set of tires with closed cell foams. even with holes in rims the tires would hold air after balloon.
2nd set i mounted i added holes in the tires. much better conistancey.
