What is the difference between .12 & .15 RTR motors? Every RTR seems to come with a .15 size....how does this compare to the performance of a good .12 motor?

RTR engines are just that, something to get your car/truck running. A good Italian .12 engine will easily overpower any RTR .15 or maybe .21 engine.

RTR cars come with .15 engines because they are cheaper to produce and put out and ok power output. A good .12 engine will have more rpm's which mean more speed. A good .15 will have a lot of torque. RTR .15's don't have a lot of torque though only and aftermarket .15 will. The only RTR .15 that has good power output that I can think of off the top of my head is the traxxas TRX .15 or something like that. That engine is in the nitro rustler and that does around 50mph.
