New to On-Road and 1S racing
I've been racing RC competitively for 3+ years running strictly off-road vehicles. I have an off-road vechicle for every class there is I decided to try my hand at on-road racing and picked up an AE 10R5. One of my local tracks has a pan car class for 17.5/1S Lipos. I did a bit of research and learned that with a 1S lipo I'll need to run either a receiver pack or some type of voltage booster to effectively/efficiently run the receiver and servo. I picked up a Tekin RS for this car (in transit) and I think I'm going to go with a receiver pack. I've run Nitro off-road with receiver packs but they're the big 5 cell NiMh 1500 mAh plug packs that way a ton compared to a pan car. The local hobby shop has a 2 cell (6.6v/220mAh) LiFe pack that is apparently used as a receiver pack for on-road cars. Will this receiver pack work for my intended purpose? Is 220mAh going to be enough to power a receiver and a mirco servo? If so, how much run time can I expect to get out of 220 mAh? Are there better receiver packs for this purpose, i.e. smaller, larger, more mAh, etc.?

Yes, it is a good battery to use otherwise why else would we be using them.
In twelth scale it lasts for the 8 minutes and then some.
Your servo will be faster because it has more volts.
Yes you can get other sizes but mostly bigger.

You're answer brough me a lot closer than my search, which was that a 220 mAh receiver pack should last me 8 minutes. That also tells me that I'll need to charge both my 1s Lipo and receiver pack between rounds.
I searched some of the major on-line RC companies but didn't find many options for that same type of receiver pack. I was wondering what receiver pack most guys are using and where they're buying them.

I am using a novak booster with my Tekin RS and i have no problem with it, but you have to hide the ESC on off switch so that you do not turn it on by accident. you just use the booster on/off switch. I just need to charge my racing battery instead of charging both racing and receiver pack.

Since you're used to charging a rx pack for your nitro car, I'd DEFINITELY go that route. I've been running 1/12th and 1/10th pan car for years, so I'm used to charging them as well. It's not really a huge deal. I have a charger that I use for my 1s packs, and a separate smaller/lower current charger for rx packs.
Any voltage spent boosting is voltage that could be going to the motor.
I'd rather be sure that I'm pushing as much to the motor as possible, rather than be lazy and not charge an rx pack.......
