Finally, I got to race my RM01 today for the first time.
It was dialed out of the box, just on the kit foams, I am very happy with this car!
The track was medium to high grip smooth tarmac.
I wore the fronts out after 3x 6 minute races. The rears still have another race or 2 left in them.
There is no 1/12th class at this club, so I was allowed to run in with the F1 cars ... 540 silver can motors only.
I used a giant old LRP ESC, the only brushed ESC I have, Futaba 9550 servo and an IP 1600mah 40C 2S lipo - designed for 1/18th cars.
Ready to run weight of 775 grams.
The club has a minimum weight of 1000grams for their F1 class ... so to be fair I had to add 225 grams of lead to the chassis. I think the chassis looks hilarious now, it took some time but I got it to the legal weight, check it out:

The option tires will last longer, you may want to give them a try.

Fronts showed minimal wear and had great steering on the rug as compared to the kit fronts which wore wicked fast with similar grip.
Rears were great and like the kit rears, had great grip but seemed to allow the car to rotate better and also showed minimal wear, also similar to the kit rears.
Grip felt consistent thru entire 8 minute runs.

Thanks, I have those tyres in my pit box, I didn't want to try them as the set up seemed good already. But will give them a try next time.

Did the RM spark up any interest at you track for 12th scale ?
The ease of getting into the class with this car should bring in a few more racers.

It did in Dallas. Added one 12th scale racer that would have never considered the class if it was not for the RM01. The awesome looks and low price drew him in and the performance made him want to race. I provided one of my old AMR12 bodies to race with so he can keep the Tom's body in one piece.

Any "must have" hopups?(aside from the non-existent carbon rear axle)
Will be running high grip carpet (till spring)
and med grip asphalt.

We are running the car with the 12th 17.5 blinky class here.
It may not be the fastest car in the class, but it holds it's own, and is super easy to drive, with virtually no setup.
For Must haves ...
Grab the option tires, they are much better for durability, and help with consistency for the full 8 min run.
As soon as the other hop-ups become available.
All the carbon, aluminum pod bits, kingpins, and center shock.
The kit side damper, is lightweight, and does the job.
Side springs are the same size as AE.
It may not be the fastest car in the class, but it holds it's own, and is super easy to drive, with virtually no setup.

He has added the CRC oncore shock and alloy diff and left hubs. Everything else including tires is right out of the box. Very easy to drive and suprisingly fast.
