Tamiya 1/12 R/C RM-01 "Racing Master"
#181
shoot, still working on my F1!

So at the moment it's only Tamiya front wheels that fit?
Also, I have seen it say full size servo only, does this mean you can't run a low profile one? Or does it just mean no micro servo's?

There's an image here:

Showing from the manual that servo size must be standard, small servos don't fit?
It shows 12-16mm from mount to spindle, and 39mm width...
Will the normal low profile 10th servo fit??

Wider than I thought, as I just went the servo tape glue method for mine.
So yes, a low-pro 10 servo will be fine.
Or any 1/10th size servo I guess.

Having more Ackerman like that smooths the car out.
Similar to the old angled servo mounts, but lower cg.
The RM has tons of steering !
Some racers have been running it like that forever, I just recently started to play around with the idea on the R5 & RM.

Actually it's the opposite.

It sounds like a great idea, just another tuning option.
I think I'm just gonna have to buy one of these, wayyyy too tempting not to.

I don't recall servo mounting, being locked down in TCS rules in the past, for sure I doubt it would be in 12th where it is common to move things around for balance.
Hey I just realized 5x8mm flanged bearings fit on Jaco front wheels, allowing super easy fitment to the RM.

So does that mean you can use standard front wheels?

The wheels do fit.
The bearing is a "tight fit", but it goes in, just.
Ordered up some flanged bearings to test it out.
Did some measuring with non-flanged bearings, and seems like it will be ok.
Jaco front wheels have 3mm more offset than the RM wheels.
We can shim them out, there is room on the axle.
Jaco NIB front wheels are roughly 45.5mm dia
If you bolt those on, the RM will sit at 4mm ride height.
They should work down to 43.5 ish where the RH will start dipping below 3mm.
As someone mentioned at the track the other day, when the tires get too small for the RM, there will be a lot of life left in them for standard 12th scale cars.
So I guess it works out, since the rear Jaco wheels bolt right on too.
Also noticed if you flip the rear pod insert around, there will be room to run smaller tires for club racing.

Hey Redbull, with the taller Tamiya foams, do you foresee, or have you had a problem with chunking? Or are the Tamiya foams not as susceptible being the different compound?
