neither, both will brake easy, wear out very fast. they are what you call " bad experience brands" sounds like your knew to nitro... atleast get a traxxas... hpi... losi... something with quality so if you stuff up it wont damage as easy due to being better quality... that xtra $$ will be worth it

I'm going with what 808 said. Go with HPI or Traxxas if your new to the nitro world. I myself am still new to nitro, but HPI and Traxxas will def get you in the door.

which or what is better....???
a great Question....
but, would have to ask...will you be "Racing"
or
just having some fun at a local park or lot etc.
in Either case, check your "Local" hobby shops, for the Parts you may need in case your "Model Breaks"
but for the most part most "Kits" are pretty good...the Inexpensive ones are not so much "Cheap" but Inexpensivly put together, and parts sometimes are a little harder to find...
for example in case you bent ot happen to Break something the first day out? may have a hard time finding a part for your Kit,if it is not a more "popular type Kit"
and have to Admit, the Traxxas SC trucks "Pretty Good"...!!!
you mentioned "RedCat" there not too bad...but not sure if shops are now carrying "parts" but there not too bad...for racing if you decide to go that route again there not too bad,but some parts may be hard to find in a "pinch" at local race tracks that carry parts for other race "Type" cars and trucks.....
so what is the big differences...???
well most of the more Popular kits will use higher grade Materials so the costs go up a little....but "Racing type Kits"
are sometimes like "Dirt Ferrari's" there Tough..!!! but not sometimes meant to hammer on for the rough and Tumbles......
there for just that "Racing" but some are really good for Thrashing around....
and the other kits, sometimes finding parts,or
needing to "Have to Order parts" as the hobby shop does not carry the parts sometimes will weigh on the "Decision" to get one or the other.
good kits are the Losi's Mugen's and Kyosho's Hot-Bodies,OFNA
and XRAY's in no particualr order.....
some are Ready to run........
with prices ranging from $189.99 to $1,128.....
there are many more but those are the more Popular ones on the market now....
and one of the "Few Race type Kits" to get you up and running fast are the Losi kits....
I think they have "Everything" but a glow Igniter?? but that may have changed...???
Kit-electronics-Battery for Reciever-Radio System-some Nitro Essentials-and a "Starter Box"
Very few other manufactures put a all together in one box, some but not aware of too many..???
and if your "Just Starting out" (maybe? Maybe Not?)
asking the Local Hobby shops for some Info for your "Driving Level" and Needs, will help them better Direct you in getting Certian kits......
same holds true for me when at "My Local Track" people will come and ask me what is the Best Kit....???? and Why am i Driving "Kit-X"
my best reply is, None there all very good....you'll spend more time looking for a bad kit......
and i drive "Kit-X" because i can find the parts "Quick" and Available almost "Everyplace".......
and about the Oil for the Filter...
yuppers, always Oil them Up....new filter is Best...but if you have to "Clean" and re-use....
go to the Hot-rod shops that carry Air-cleaner Solvents and be sure to show them what you'll be using it on.....
spray it on, and rinse and wash with Soapy water clean it of the Solvent, roll up in a Towel and set it Aside to dry compleatly..
and re-oil.....K&N filter solvent works well.....
it's what I used as well in my Full sized "Race Trucks" on our Foam Filters.
hopefully any or a little of this can help....
but most of all "Have Fun"......!!!!!!
