What kind of Tamiya chassis do you have that sparks when it bottoms out????? This is a Tamiya thread, so I dont know what flaming you were expecting

As far as shock oil for running outside (I'll assume that's where you are gonna run), I'd try 50 or 60 weight oil...Associated's shock oil is better than the kit stuff Tamiya gives ya...I know I recently ran 90 weight on asphalt and the car was a handful to drive...Also if you are bottoming out, try raising your car's ride height - use the spacers that came with the shock to "raise" the chassis a little

jericsm: Yup, just got it last Sunday. GT class? No plans yet, probably when I get more track time and place in the A main like you do I actually bought it for speed and maybe some practice so it'll be easier for me when I race my beloved TL01.

No luck yet in my diff assembly. I'll just bring it on the 7th our next race. Do you know if Fiesta will be open this Sunday?

Gotcha It shouldnt matter about the oil...I'd still go with either 50 or 60 weight - possibly even as low as 40 wt (that's what the TC3 comes with stock)...I used to run 50 or 55 weight in my TC3 outdoors and inside (i'm lazy when it comes to rebuilding shocks)

I got an Evo 1 and havent ran it yet need to put some electronics in it I have the stiff blue springs on the front and the lighter blue springs on the rear - dunno how its gonna handle

Use the threaded collars on the shocks, as you thread them and the move towards the bottom of the shock the car gets higher, and as the thread towards the top the car sets lower, remember with threaded shocks adjusting ride height is kinda goofy. adjust the shocks on end of the car (front or rear) to the same distance from the top and then check ride height, if you only adjust one corner til it sets at the right height once you set the other the previos side will suddenly be too high. Be patient all will work out and you will figure out the little "tricks" that work for you.

oops, I already started a new thread.

but, My TAO4-Pro, check it out

Yeah, if your shocks have threaded collars, then just rotate the collars to the height you want. A good way to do this is start with the collars at the top (car is lowest), then make a marking with a pencil on the collar for reference. Rotate the collar using the marking and a spot on the chassis as a reference, 180 degrees at a time, and then smaller increments as need be. Counting how many times you rotated half circles makes it easier to get the left and right ride heights even.

Spacers work too.

I know this is a 04R forum so I hope you guys don't mind answering some 04Pro questions

I've just seen David Jun's 04Pro, is it customized because he runs it on side by sides and the carbon lower deck has slots. Does Tamiya sell those lower decks?

And what kind of spur gear, pinion combination would be best for stock motors running on technical tracks? and of high speed tracks?

I think the chassis you are talking about is a Tamiya part. Are you sure it was a TA04 all hes been running lately is his 414m, which by the way has some very sweet parts on it.
