Yes, i've experienced front belt tightness. on both my TA04's (Modena kit and "R"). I've "broken-in" those belts by running the belt tensioner low and running it (choose one of your worse motors cause the increased drivetrain friction may damage it).

The 04-R is awesome on the track, and is soo much easier to drive than my TC3, here's the run down from last Saturday ( my first race with mt 04-R)
Qualified 4th
by the end of the first lap I was in 5th
2nd lap saw my car in 7th- dead last and one lap down
by the end of my 3rd lap I regained 6th
lap 6 picked up 5th
8th lap pulled up to 4th and stayed there for 4 more laps
then I passed the number 3 car on my 13th lap and only held that for 1 lap
by the end of my 14th lap I reeled in the number 2 car.....and passed him
and I held off 4 separate defenders for the next 16 laps
FINAL RESULTS----------- 2ND-----------------
Also I believe a TA04-pro took top honors in stock over and entire onslaught of TC3's and XXX-S's....... pretty dang sweet if you ask me......

yes, the front belt it really really tight. I like some things tight, but not the front belt. After 10 battery packs in Mod, the belt was still tight. The car handles great, but doesn't quite have the snap coming out of corners mostly due to the power robbing front belt. As recommended by another TA04 owner, I dremeled out the front gearcase to move the front diff a bit closer. That seems to work well.

Changing Shock Oil
Hi!
May i know how you guys change shock oil? Empty out the oil oil and put in new ones or actually clean the whole insides of the shock?

I just empty the shocks and refill. Some people clean it out with motor spray, but it really doesn't make a huge difference.

I was using blue front/yellow rear. The car felt balanced, but the body roll in Mod was too pronounced and caused lotsa body scraping in high speed turns.
I found that less droop (high number on assoicated scale) means less of an on-power push. I can't remember what my setting is, but it's more than 3.

For all you dremel happy people,
I dremeled out battery slots for my TA04-R chassis.
The batteries now sit a fill 0.12" lower!!! I also had to cut the battery hold down posts a bit. The Tamiya plastic is very gummy and a pain to dremel, but worth the effort. I even dremeled out a larger motor cutout for better cooling. The chassis is still extremely stiff despite all the cutouts. I'll try to post a pic soon.
On the Tamiya Japan site, there is text for a whole slew of hopups - part numbers 49194 through 49203. Too bad I can't read Japanese.

On another note, those with the R kit do you have the black cylinder nut for the shocks? If so does it seem to work pretty good if so do you know what the part number is? I am looking to replace the double nut set on my M. My fingers are to fat to operate those dang things. Plus I like the looks of the black nuts.

Kraig, just finished assembling my R today. I looked in the manual for the black nut on the shocks and there is no number listed except for the entire damper cylinder #9805794. The nut was already on the shock body out of the package, my feeling is that you'd have to get the entire body.
Also does anyone know of where I can get Tamiya parts, besides Tower hobbies? I want to stock up on basic parts for my pit box such as #9805740 Ball-headed king pin, cant seem to find it anywhere. Parts such as a-arms, kingpins, belts, ect are a must when I am racing. I havent found the Type R, and T motors either.

Do you mean the plastic ring used to set the shock preload? Looking through my manual, if that's the one we're both thinking about I believe it comes with the whole shock body
