Thinking about upgrading my x1cr and was wondering if the ti turnbuckles, screw hingepins and racers edge cradock brakes are worth the upgrade. I'll be racing and bashing with the buggy.

Here's a pic.

i got the "brake special with plates" kit, and it's not quite what i expected. all that it comes with is two screws and two prebonded brake plates and semi metallic pads. instead of pure fiber pads, the brake pads are a semi metallic material which they say have smoother performance and and less "grabbiness". i thought that the kit would be two of those plastic brake disks that come with the CRT, and two pads with plates.

i was installing the kit that i got and first of all, they come with no directions. so i called the retailer and they said that i only have to use one disk on each side. so, i screwed on the pads/plates with the included screws with the springs and they get hung up extremely easily. once you press the plates agaist the disk, the plates don't spring back off of the disk like the stock ones do. the plates get hung up on the screws and don't come back off of the disk. so i dremeled the screw holes more to free them up some. well, it still hung up! i took off the springs, and surprisingly they didn't hang up as easily as before. i dremeled them out even more and reinstalled them with no springs. i have yet to test them yet, but i'm sure that once i hit the brakes, they won't let loose.

so, does anybody else have this upgrade kit and has had the same problem? i am almost ready to reinstall the stock brake plates/pads.

Mac- just order this kit and be done with it..... you can use the shorter screws and stock springs and still have an extra set of pads and rotors, and more than enough stopping power!!!!!

wow, that CNR kit looks sick! are you telling me that the woven carbon fiber plates actually are the pads too? or is some pad material bonded to the CF?
