Talking Helicoil

fordman500,
The best repair will be achieved with use of a Helicoil. It will be stronger than original. The drawback is; it requires a Helicoil tap as well as an insert. Inserts are cheap, taps are not. You should locate a reputable machine shop in your area and see if they can do it. Unless you are going to do a bunch, it is not cost effective to buy the Helicoil kit.
Thanks,
Bob

If the tread is 3mm (if its a .12, provably), the best thing to do is to get a 6/32s tap and just tap them, you wont have to drill them out. Depemding on the screws you get, you might have to make the holes on the head bigger, but thats easy.
