Were starting a brushless class this fall at the stockton RC track..

It wll also be a class for the upcoming region 12 carpet champs.

For club racing we'll be running 7 mion mains and no tc/sedan bodies.. evttes, 350z's, bugatties etc to make it rreally different.

Yes, he's correct, the problems have been solved, and rarely are an issue any longer. The rotor situation has also been resolved. I have only seen One of the new design fail. Any rotor failures are generally handled as warranty due to the fact that, "That should Just Not Happen", unless the motor and ESC are severely abused or damaged.

Generally speaking the temperture shut-off is not an issue when the vehicles are geared correctly, but yes, just like any motor, it can be overgeared. The Temp protection will help prevent long term damage, but should not be relied on for Gearing adjustments. We try to gear based on the Temperture of the ESC. I like to see temps around 160-175F at the end of the run.

Thanks Guys,
Charlie
hey charlie on the topic of overheating ... will a car that is undergeared overheat ? like if the car is running top speed for too long. im a nitro guy and getting into EP. and how long will it take for an ESC to reach to 160-175 F? and can you make the ESC stay at 160F or will it just increased as the runtime increases?

thanks in advance

BT- Well "overgeared" means running to large of pinion, and yes, overgearing will cause pre-mature overheating.

You can "Undergear" or use a very small pinion and have no additional heating issues. Usually geared low, you will see less heating overall.

Runtime can effect the heat if it is overgeared, geared correctly for the application it will reach a temp and kind of stay there for the duration of the run.

Thanks

Awesome......thanks for the detail information..............but those systems are really WAY up there ($$$$$).........

I am using the Schulze U-Force 75 with my basic 4200. Runs well, temps stay in control and the power is pretty good. With proper gearing this setup can keep up with 10 turn motors.

I have been running the 5800 in my xxx-s for a year without a single problem.

Just start with a ratio of about 7.3 for a tc and work down. I was running mine with a final of 6.86 but now that i got some stickier tires i am up to about 7.16

About the new Reedy /LRP ESC brushless system.
It's sensored system.
Does anyone know if they work with the Novak system?
By looking at the ads I think that the Reedy motor is slightly more powerful than the SS5800 Novak, it would be nice if we finally got mix'n match brusless system, (at realistic price).

With what authority do you say that?
Not that its bad news, it's great news since i want to upgrade to more speed..
I just hope it's confirmed by someone from Reedy or LRP.

This is very good news. At last respectable companies (No offence to Lehrer, Schulze, Hacker or even Aveox but they are really "NoName" companys in the RC car market) are marketing brushless motors and ESCs that are designed to be compatible with each other, you know that they are compatible so you can buy them without fear. If you have the Novak system you can buy the LRP ESC or the Reedy motor knowing they will work.
The Novak bruhsless package is less than 250 at Tower including shipping, the Reedy/LRP combo just slightly more.
Gentlemen, my prediction is: The brushless motor has come to stay.

The future of electric i say

I agree with you on that one all those motors/escs you mentioned are noname,i would never buy a Lehner,Hacker,Schulze motor/esc

I have heard rumours of a Novak 6T motor coming out,has anyone else heard this before?

I would buy them, IF I had $$$$$$$ burning holes in my pocket.

But to spend most of my yearly "budget for play" on things I'm not sure work together or even fit in the car. No way. I'll buy the things that I know fit together and fit in the car.
