Thanks Stevil. That should help a bunch. Actually, I'm in sales and we sell these pumps (I work for a distributor. We sell plastic fluid handling systems for corrosive applications.) But nobody, not even the manufacturers of the pumps in 8 years of doing this, have been able to give a good answer to that question.

OK Steve, after doing some reading, I think I've got a pretty good idea about 3 phase. But I have one more question. Would the brushless RC systems be considered a type of 3 phase motor?

Yes, they are considered 3 phase circuits.
