So by this logic at some point proto-chickens got busy and had live young, then soft shell reptilian eggs and finally the hard eggs we see today. That makes sense....excellent!
This makes sense from a female survival standpoint. Pregger chickens may have been more vulnerable to predators. Popping out eggs and stashing them was a better survival option.

That's a good thought to ponder Adrian, however, being that chickens are not mammals, they probably never gave live birth. I just figure the first chickens that started makin' sweet love to each other just laid eggs. But, unfortunately, I am not the creator(if one exists, but that is another topic completely) of this amazing planet so I really don't know. Sure is fun debating it though.
