Grinding it down sounds like a pretty good idea. Are you doing anything special to ensure that it's straight? i.e. using oil, rotating it every two-strokes, etc.

If it doesn't fit, I'll grind the ones I have instead.

Hey,
I am having difficulties in adjusting the end play and the clutch gap too. Could anyone explain why we should leave .5mm at step 43 and why should we keep adding shims at the endplay? What happens when the endplay is too loose? I am not sure if I am making too much sense, but this is my first nitro car >< I am very noob at it ><

The gap is permitted distance of the clutch shoe and is preventing the deadlock from metal expand. it needs to coordinate with the strength of the clutch spring. By adding the shims at the endplay, the clutch gap will be decreased and that is the setting of the clutch.
0.5mm is the default setting.
Hope this could help..

If you are using the OS collet you may want to try the Kyosho one & for those that are setting up extra clutches the Kyosho collet & spacer # is um213 they cost about 5 or 6 bucks @ the local hobby shop

Hello!
Thanks Gmartinez and kennyee! Your explanation helped alot! I am also wondering if it is possible to use the 5 x 10 shim instead of the suggested 5 x 7 shim on the www.nitrokb.com. Can I mix them together? Also, how do I adjust the setting of the 2 speed changer?

The two speed is adjusted by the two screws that hold the two speed shoes together. The tighter you make the screws the later the cars shifts. Loosening them does just the opposite and makes the car shift sooner. Hope this helps.

Hey all, I am eagerly awaiting the arrival of my kit and have a question. What pipe do I need for it and do I also need a header? I am putting a Novarossi NS-12 in it.
Please give info on where to get also.
Thanks for any suggestions.
