Default Latest version GP 3300's?

I need new batts. What's the layest version of the GP3300's look like? I plan on buying from my lhs but don't want cells that have long shelf life. I've seen a zebra white/black, duracell type yellow top/green, half red/green, and swore i saw an all red cell too. Any major diffs. ?

As long it's a GP3300 the cell is the same as anyone else's gp3300 cell out there, different companies have different color shrink wrap for brand identity or whatnot and also think they use to like only have different shrink wrap for certain continents not too long ago. Just make sure the numbers are sufficient for your use and you should be good to go!

the latest incarnation of the gp3300 is the sp2 (at least from what i read here on the internet). seems like these packs are hitting 440-460 seconds @ 30a, with similar voltage to the previous cell. just picked up a 454/1.17+ epic pack yesterday, interested to see how it compares to my previous best 1.17+ pack (424 seconds).

I believe the "SP2" refers to a performance imprvement process and not the battery. If you go to the GP web site www.gpbatteries.com.hk they only show one model 3300 cell available - GP330SCHR.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

sp2 is a new design of cell the original gp cell was too long for roar rules and they shrtened the cell just a little so there is a difference. if you dont know what your looking at you can get the old cells which means that they have been sitting around for a while and are no good.

Thats not true SP2 is a sticker that orion put on their cells, the newest cell is commonly known as the shortie. There is a clear difference in length between older 33's and the new shorties.

The new short cells were made to be legal in dimension limits set by ROAR, the original 3300's exceeded that size limit and are technically illegal but were grandfathered in b/c GP was so quick to correct the problem. The #'s from the tall to short 3300 cells did change some, but #'s can change from batch to batch, or they did a lot from first 3300's to current 3300's, the cell isn't a new better cell, just a legal size cell. Battery matcher #'s are sort of like r/c engine HP figures, there isn't an industry standard so some companies are going to be further from the truth while others are closer or spot on the truth. So why pay extra for a "better" pack when it's the same as an avvg pack from another company??? I think the only way to resolve this is for a magazine to do comparison cycles or something from each matcher with packs from a hobby shop and not direct from the matchers.

Or you could just get Orion/Peak batteries and not have to worry about it, cause you know your stuff will be ballastic.
