I freakin hate the way they designed the terminals on the SXX speedo. For the life of me I cannot thread my 12 AWG wire through those holes. I have a high end iron set very hot, the speedo in a vice, and not matter what direction I come from with the iron I cannot get the solder to heat up while I thread the wire through those tiny holes. It's driving me nuts. I've probably cooked the speedo at this point.

Any suggestions? I've tried the flat head tip and the pointy tip on the iron. I have to run this SXX until the new Orion speedos shipped because my KO Propo went out on me.

Solder the tips of the wires, then use an xacto blade and shave them down to size. Slip the tip in the hole, then solder them in.

Thanks. I switched to a slightly thinner wire and added a little solder to help heat up the old solder. Alsomfound that the flat tip worked better than the pointy one.

Personally I tin the wire then file the solder/wire down into a point. It's pretty easy once you know how to do it, apparently they do it that way because solder posts add resistance.
