I really don't know what to do with all that junk from sub-c era. It is still working, so I can't bring myself to throw it all away like that, but then again, it looks like that stuff is gone for good.

From my point of view, if current chargers move on and at some point I won't be able to buy a charger that does Lipo (or whatever the technology of the day will be) as well as NiCd, which I use in other applications, then my old NiCd gear might still find some way to earn its keep.

Old and worn tires are a few grams lighter than brand new tires. By bert's calculations and theory, the lighter rotational mass of worn tires should net you about a second a lap faster than brand new tires.

I thought about what you guys said and tried to charge my old batteries. They couldn't hold a charge past 7.577v(in Evo 5)and 7.375v(in Pro 4).
So; I'm now using Duratrax DTX 3600 Batteries(rebuilt to fit 6-cell side-by-side) in my relics. Gotta stay true to Ni-mh. . . for now.

I'm going to test the performance of these batteries at our nicely-paved school-yard track against some Li-Po guys.

That sounds like you have at least one dead cell in each of your packs. Everything will be fine once you change those cells...That happens alot with 4200 cells... Good luck racing your cars, but keep track of their total weight(try to reduce total weight down to the 1350g minimum).....

How about shaving the body clips in an aerodynamic fashion and testing them in a wind tunnel?

.......Or greasing the sides of a body so it reduces friction when hitting boards.

I believe the track in New Rochelle is a carpet track.
I Only race on Asphalt (well-paved-smooth asphalt).

To my knowledge the track is closed. I found that out first hand when the police asked me to leave. (June 23, 2016)
The military want the area back.

But we used to race electric 1/10 rubber - tire at the track on some weekdays (Mondays -Thrursdays). Now we're back at the school playground.
