Carbon chssis wont handle driving about on roads etc. Plastic tub wont crack break or chip (TT01, TB03, TF5, TC4)

OK, dont get a TT01 for high power brushless, it is entry level & has some
major design limitations, least of which is the motor mount system & very limited gearing range (Ive had one by the way).
Start buying hops for a TT01 & you will spend alot more than if you bought a TB03 etc etc. Some guys spend over $500 on their TT01, only to find its still only a $100 car.
TT01 is just a basher, DONT WASTE MONEY BUYING HOP-UPS on it
TT01 is VERY VERY low spec, even some of the generic chinese cars are better specced.

Get a Tamiya TB03R instead. Its like a modern TT01. Race capable(for stock racing), will cope with a 9T brushless IF you get the metal diff outdrives. I had one for a basher with a 9T BL motor.
It shaft drive, 2 ball diffs, fully enclosed gears,TRF shocks, metal centreshaft, CV,s instead of plastic dogbones, same suspension as TA05.

The OFNA linked previously would make a great basher as well i'd expect, with out of the box performance 10 years ahead of the TT01.

thanks. everything you've said makes sense. it seems like that TB-03R is discontinued. is that the case?

I love my DF-03ra lately. But my TA05v2 is my main basher.

i like the idea of the df-03ra A LOT but it seems there are some inherent weaknesses and i've read of people just shelving them due to things like the main shaft wearing out very quickly and there being no real upgrade available to remedy that issue.

if i needed a dedicated track car, this would be pretty easy to figure out. but finding a durable basher that can handle plenty of power and offer ample durability on the street is not as easy as you'd think. sounds backwards but it's true!

it looks like that OFNA piece might be the best bet for me. i don't know at this point; researching this is getting to me. i should probably let it go for now.

Not! Stay away from the DF-03 chassis if you want durability. Under minor bashing of my DF-03 Dark Impact, I broke the rear shock tower, main chassis (right behind the battery...weak point), the rear diff, and the shocks totally blow!

The Tamiya Ta-05 may be the way to go. At a demo for the Chicago RCX show, I was running my Ta-05 and jumping it off of a 5 foot skateboard quarter pipe. This car held up better than a race ready off-road truck.

Cyclone S if you want to stick with 10th scale, but a converted 1/8 scale buggy is soooo much more fun and durable....
