Kevin, as there is less friction in the joint, the car should generate less rear grip which will cause the floating feeling they describe. Driveshaft angles create a "bind" that has been observed to cause higher grip levels do to the straightening forces of the shafts being applied.
Using a dcj in the rear should be good under high grip conditions, where you want to free up the car a bit.

Please don't get me wrong, but can you really recognize it, or is it more of a feeling? I am asking it this way, because the degree of the joint is so small in comparison to the steering in front.
