I've used a few different trays and like the Novak the best. I guess it comes down to your style and pocket book. I tend to be the guy who forgets his cells because I'm working on something else during a race, so I forget to unscrew some of the gone out bulbs, etc. The Novak has changeable cut off volts and even has a deadshort feature. You will have to plug it in though. Also, the tray is polarity sensitive, and some of my packs that I've aquired are negative on the bottom right, so flipping the pack upside down with the bars sticking toward the tray gets awkward. I discharge my cells after a race then tray them the night before a race; at least that''s my plan.

What do people know about the Much More Racing discharge tray?? I am tossing up between that and the Novak. What I can see, is that the Novak needs power to run, but has adjustable auto cutoff. I don't think that the MMR one has auto cutoff. Does anyone know anything about them??

Why use discharger at all.
The Integy Octane 2 discharges at 20amps.
Why not just put the pack on the Octane 2 and drain each cell till the light for that particular goes out.

I have a 30amp unit from Integy, I would recommend a similar unit. It mimics the load on the battery while the car on the track better than a 20amp unit.

Get the novak tray. A little more pricey than the rest, but at least you won't be second-guessing yourself later. It's one of the most popular items at my LHS.

A 30 amp discharger is the best if you have one built into your charger i.e. GFX. But not a must have. I usually use the 10 amp discharger on my LRP until I get my GFX in a couple weeks. I had one of the Indy Reactor 30 dischargers. That thing would get so hot, even with the fan on it, that it literally burned itself up and died after one month.

Get the Integy Zero-Equalizer! It works great and you can't beat it for around $20.
