I know that weight is a HUGE issue and makes a HUGE difference. I'd LOVE to get SoCal to start teching, but I'm not sure how far I want to go in that direction - it could easily start a huge flame war and controversy. You know? It would also mean more labor for them.
It would be nice if we could monitor ourselves - if the HPI's and X-Rays are lighter, they KNOW it and should add weight. In the Pro10 class, if one of us is lighter, we add weight (or we beat him up! ) I mean, hey, we're sportsmen, right? Personally, I think we should act like it!
RCMits - shoot - my setups are different from, say, Bubble's (who races at SoCal as well) but we benefit from each others' experiences. I can see what's up with his car easier than I can an X-Ray or HPI.
mushu - I just like running my 10L2 in practices with the sedans and to drive past them, even the 19T guys, whilst running stock. But yeah, I know what you mean.

Does anyone have a good starting setup for foams on carpet in stock? Im running one now that is pretty good, just want to kinda compare to some others out there.

Bob...it's more about their
"RCknight is apparently gonna bag on the TC4 indefinitely on this thread."
snake like business practices. I could go back and quote some, but I won't. As far as the car goes, it's not bad, but it could be better.
My set up is for stock foams, med bite ozite, and tight. If someone wants to try my setup it's as follows:
Front;
-60 weight oil, #3 piston, shocks mounted outside/outside
-yellow springs, but I'm going to try white
-smallest shim in front only
-silver sway bar
-second chassis brace ballstud in, with one shim
-steering knuckle and steering rack stock
-plaid front tires
-4* caster (going to try Losi's blocks)
-4.5 ride height
-1 degree toe in
-1mm shim in wheel hex
-front arm space stock
-1.5 degrees camber
Rear;
-50 weight oil, #3 pistion, shocks mounted inside one
-purple springs
-smallest shim rear only
-no sway bar
-purple rear tires
-longest rear camber link, one shim under ball stud
-rear arms forward
-Losi rear wheel hubs forward
-2 degree rear toe
-1.5 degrees camber
Car seems very fast and stable.
One question
If you shim the front steering rack with a motor shim, does it change the ackerman? If not, should I shim it up or down? Seems to me that this "floating effect" in this location would be ok as the suspension travels up and down.

RcKnight,
We are running a setup something like yours but with white and purple springs. But this weeking in Ohio, we got some help from a local and he wasnt running any shims under any of the arm blocks at all. I found this kind of strage but it worked pretty well. I thought the rear end need to free up just a tad more, but all in all it was decent. I just have one question about the front swaybar? Why on the front? O and how much droop did you run on that setup?

Might want to try moving the front shock to the inside hole on the arm instead of outside. Adding the shim on the rack will change the ackerman. I''m sure with all the guys here running the car we can get you sorted out on what is wrong.

One other thing...at our track which sounds similar (med-high bite tight carpet) almost everyone has switched from Plaid/Purple to Cyan/Magenta (Double Pink-Orange/Double Pink).
Other thing I did this week is move the ball on the steering knuckle to the inner hole...
Car was MONEY this weekend!

Wouldnt moving the shock inward take away forward traction and lose steering?

runingrc10...
I use a sway bar to help take out some steering and to get some rear bite. I'm using purples on the rear and I seem to need the extra rear traction. Soon as my tires wear out, I'm going to orange/d-pink set.
This car has a lot of steering and I'm running a Mazda 6 on top of that. I'm thinking of running an Alfa next.
Droop? Not sure. I set the droop in the front by adjusting the top of the sping so that it's just touches the shock collar and the rear about 1mm from the shock collar. This seem to be spot on for me.
The car really seems to be hooked up for me now, but I'm always searching for something better. I tried 6 degree caster blocks and I liked it better, but that was without shims. So I'm undecided on which was better. The pros say stick with some anti-dive and some anti-squat. I still somewhat new to tunning and I can't tell much of a difference between the 4 and 6. One thing I do want to expirement with is bump steer. Does this give more steering? If so, I don't need any then.
