What is something like this worth?
Hey, guys. I recently got this from a friend as it sits. I got it for $25.
On the bottom of the front spoiler it says "RCC Ferrari 412T1 1994 Tamiya."
I'm just wondering how much these go for. I have no idea about the R/C Formula 1 cars.
It's really light (carbon fiber chassis) so I was wanting to make it fast. I have a realistic goal of 80mph...and an ideal goal of 100mph.

tamiya F103, looks identical to my f103RM. used prices vary i bought mine for 50 with 2 bodies and 2 wing sets and some parts spare. tamiya re-released this a while ago list price was 99.95 from my LHS. the hot one was the 15th anniversary but even those have really come down in price.

Thanks for the info, man. I'm assuming if I need parts for it, I can just buy them for the F103RM. Am I right?
Also, what size motors do these things take? A 540 BARELY fits.

Nice clean 103.
We still race them (and win with them) in the f1 class.
If you are building it for an all out speed machine it's going
to be a handful and will probably end up being picked
up with a broom and dustpan.
If it were me I would race it or post it up to sell (you will get a good return on your 25 bucks) and seek a more suitable chassis for speed runs.

Nice clean 103.
We still race them (and win with them) in the f1 class.

I can see that being a problem. I haven't got enough speed up to see if it needs any added weight. I'm assuming the spoilers will provide adequate downforce. I'm going to turn my steering rates all the way down to help prevent loss of control.
I will be getting a video of this.
1080p...of course.

I used to race these back in the 90ties with the blue actopower motor from Tamiya.
Even them it was fast and a pain to handly
We used to go for the HBR softs in the rear and the stock rear tires on the front(trued offcourse) and that combo worked great.
Enough steering but also good grip at the rear.
Try and get the ball suspension mount set for the rear and the flex T-bar.
This will also help you to get more rear end grip.
If it has the height adjustable rear motor pod this also helps a lot
I got 2 F103 chassis here still and thinking of running them again with a 21.5 brushless setup.

I do need to do something about rear end traction. In reality...this thing is WAY overpowered...and someone who actually races these things should own it.
The only damage was the spoiler got broken off and the mounts that hold the friction disc got broken off. I Gorilla glued them back on. The car is still 100% driveable...only without the spoiler.
Where is the best place to buy parts for these?

This would have been one of the best places to run that Ferrari F1. You can add a rear diffuser for rear end traction.

If not, e-bay has still got a lot of parts,even brand new cars are still for sale..
If you would like to run the car without the problems of power overkill use the silvercan motor of a high turns brushless setup.
Everything below a 17 tripple brushed on a non circuit is way to much.
Even on a high grip track it is a handfull.
For more rear end traction,use the mentioned parts such as the HBR soft rear tires,hight adjustable gearcase,ball suspension mount set,rear diffuser and a body with a good(big) rear spoiler and a small up front such as the Sauber C12.
Good luck with it as it is fun to drive even with the rear traction probs
