I just put some tires in the oven to reuse the rims, those gridirons were gone from a heat and a main so the rims were like new...and 350 is too hot...I went to check on them after 5 minutes, and when I opened the oven, oh man, I burned my eyes man....Now the whole house smells like a drag strip...Ugggg. Choking, gaggg...the rims are fine by the way.....

Oh man now I posted it in the engine thread by mistake.....Ok I'm done working on my buggy tonight...Nothing good will happen from here on out....

yup pulled that move once and well next time will just buy more rims. oh yeah and even at lower temps the house smells.

go to home depots or any hardware store and get a five gallon bucket that has a seal top.

get a quart or 2 of acetone pour into bucket
cut foams out of tires youd like reuse (well just cut foams all foams out)
place wheels/tires in bucket....tires do not need to be submerged fumes will get them
put top on and 24hrs later come back and clean rims tire just come right off
rims do disscolor a bit but works great

close top and store till needed again

Try this:
1. go to your local hobby shop.
2. buy more rims.

Dude, I cut the old tires off, it will still have alittle rubber on them. and I just throw them in a pot of boiling water. I let them boil for ummmm maybe 30 mins or so. Then I just pull the they tire bead off, take a dremel and sand down. and Im good. I have rims that has had about 6 sets of tires on them, and I plan on reusing again. I will not bake rubber in my home, nor will I use acetone around my kids. AND I dont have to buy anything.

Cut the tires off the rim only leaving a small ring of rubber. I put them submerged one side only in a small coleman plastic cooler with just enough acetone to cover that side of the rim. Next day peel that rubber out and flip them over and do it again. Piece of cake. I then funnel the acetone back into the can and use it again.

Wow... Lol... You don't literally bake the tire... You just preheat to 350-400 then shut oven off... Throw tires that are wrapped in foil on a cookie sheet and throw them in.. After about 3-4 hours the oven and tires should cool down to room temp.... The tires should peel off the rim with ease... Sorry for your smokey bear mishap....

just boil them for 15 min then flip them over to the other side for 15 min. After this the tires peel easily off the rim. You can reuse both the rim and the tire this way. I do this when I need to switch foams on a still useful set of tires
