from what i have read and seen on the pictures id say that the power racing XR/8 is a very good car for what it is priced at now if you buy from one of these hobby shops in New York or california.

the cheapest ive seen for a P.R XR/8 is from BrooklynHobbies $350 and not to mention the engines their not bad when it comes to price.

If you're worried about cost, get the RTR, and throw your control system in it. Then you end up with a pretty good motor for next to nothing. 9 port, 2.7 HP .27 It even comes with a starter...

What do you guys think about this kit? is it worth it? because If I buy one I don't want it flipping over on me and stuff. I seen prices and they are cheap for this kit but im still thinking about it........I need to see the performance on this car.
The cars are readily available in CA (and elsewhere). I have raced mine in the last 3 Midwest series events and am in the hunt for the Masters class win. My lap times are very competitive & I like the car better than the Evolva I had before. Any lhs should be able to get it for you (or allready have it).

Hello

My local hobby shop has had the kit version on their wall for about 3-4 months. How do I know if it has been updated or is there currently only one kit version. Thanks

I know of no updates to the kit in last 3 or 4 months. Perhaps Cameron or Roger will comment about that.

I've talked to Roger today on the phone and he said that there have been no updates on the current kits that are being distributed. There are many up-grades that can be seen on thier website www.happytimehobby.com.

Nothing wrong with the current tower. They do have an aluminum one that has some additional mounting holes. I prefer carbon fiber.

Thats right. No changes have been made to the current batch of XR/8 pro kits.

There's a japanese magazine called RC World with the XR/8 in it. Its pretty sweet to see the car in a highly reputable R/C magazine where Godzilla lives

I'm preyty sure those specs are a little exadurated, at least in the case of mine. Is it lacking in take off, or top end? You may want to re-gear it, or try re-tuning it. You could also try more potent fuel, I'm running 30% white lightning in mine, and it hauls ass!

I got the clutch from the XR8, and I'm still using the RTR pipe/header(it's fine, nice broad powerband). Tuning the clutch is an ART! I crap you not, it took me a couple tuning days to get it right. But that's just one of those things with Centax type clutches, it's a headache to tune, but once you get it right, BINGO, it's awsome. I bought the RTR, and so far, I only replaced the clutch(the original came apart one raceday). I only have a few other cars for competition, and those are all XR80s and XR8s. THere's one Mugen, an older model, but the driver is GOOD. I really don't feel like I have to do anything to this car...yet...
