Default Making an equalizing tray

hi guys,
some one from my lhs has made his own equalizing tray. I tried asking him how he made it but he refused. so i am wondering how to make one using pcb, indicator lamps and resistors (what he used, very much like the trinity real time 2, less the fan.). I am just wondering where to solder (put) them and how to screw in the battery and all the other things. as i am only a kid i don't have the money to blow on a real time 2 and like making my own stuff just like i made my receiver.
thanks the newbie...
