well batteries you can range from 6 cell KAN or Lithium Poly/Ion Packs for real power. As far as motors the 300 size motors are very fast. Krystal3 by URC, Graunper 300, Baja, but i think alot of people say the Beast Motor is the fastest 300 size. (more info on 1/18th you can go to one18th.com they'll help you out)

you probably want to stick with the kan 2/3a's, gp 1100's, or if your charger can handle it,the li-po's.

i doubt it. a lot of the times the 'micro specific' made packs use the normal 1100 mah cells, they lack that 'punch' that a kan or gp cell has. plus for the mamba or other high drain motors(i.e. speed 300's or tuned 300's) , you need cells capable of pushing 30+amps with out a drop on cell voltage, like the kan 1050 hr+ or gp cells. plus these packs are way cheaper from the people i've listed than the 'brand name' ones.
