They only packs that will fit under the top deck with the plate are the smaller Orion packs, 4000 SMC that I know of for sure. There may be others as well but not 100% sure.
I run SMC 5000 packs and let the pack hang off the chassis at an angle toward the back. It balances the car out perfect and offsets the weight of the motor hanging off the chassis.

yea, in my 007 vintage car, i use a lipo plate, but tape the battery to the plate a little farther forward, so that it clears the bulkhead, works great.
it fits fine in the 009 as well... using the IP3800 35c pack, but sanding off the nubs on the bottom, its clears the topdeck and bulkheads easily..

Just a very general question on brushed motors here...
Has anyone ever found the need to gear differently because of the weather temperature?
Going from one extreme to another, from summer temperatures to winter temperatures, would racing in the cold allow you to gear with a bigger pinion because there is less heat soak on the motor?

thanks, i had feeling that weather temperature may alter gearing. some may say its extreme changing gearing going from our summer to our winter, but so is the weather temperature....

Just for people who want to know...
I have found in colder weather the motor will not heat up so quick into a run outside.
This can equate to using a slighter better gear ratio for speed, but this isn't too useful on tracks that are small, but it helps a little on bigger tracks with flowing corners...
You will still not have the pace of brushless either, they will win on outright punch, unless the guy has no decent lap consistancy.
