Man the car looks awesome. I will be a while longer. Need to wait on electronics.
After trying several hobby shops, I got frustrated not being able to find the servo mounts like those shown above. So, I made some. I also made a version like them to sub for part of the battery holder. I have the vert motor mount and had to swap the sides the belts are on. The holders will use post and adjustable bolt to hold the lipo away from the belt. Idea was stolen from earlier in the tread.

OK I test drove the car. In the living room though. I built it totally box stock, with a Savox servo, Traxxas TQi Rx, Titan 12T and XL5 ESC. I thought the steering link would hit the upper deck, but it clears by a few thousandths of an inch. The Titan 12T 550 motor seems to have a ton of torque, and made drifting the floor tiles a cake walk. When I get it outside with traction, I will check the gearing/temps. Yup, the stock shocks are already a bit oily up top. So far the diffs seem dry.
I also took the stock white wheels and dumped them in some near boiling water, with vinegar, and RIT Black dye for about 3 minutes. They turned out an amazing semi-gloss dark black. It looks awesome with the black wheels. My weight with 5000 Lipo and no body, comes in at 1385g.
I wish I could post a photo or a link....let me try uploading pics.

Most likely not alot top end, but a ton of torque. I would guess your tires will last about 3 runs....

The Datsun body from Tamiya fits! Despite the body's 251mm wheelbase, it straddles the Zero S just fine. I still need to lower the chassis about 1/8" thus the wheel arch clearance.

LHS, didn't have the right colors, so now I wait for rattle cans in the mail. Oh the pain of patience...

I cut the wheel wells to the exact scale spec. No overcutting needed. In fact, the foam bumper is an EXACT fit against the back of the body air-dam. Putting the air-dam snug against the foam, and even with the bottom edge, puts the wheel wells in the perfect spot, fore and aft.
Here is a photo that shows how perfectly the front bumper lines up with the air-dam. The ride height is now set at about 5mm. No tire rub at all.

any body running a 3.5t b/L motor in their zero? if so what gearing is good? do you think 34t pinion and 73t spur is too much? dont want to ruin my new system( which should be here tomorrow, hopefully)

Very nice, thanks!
Can you do one more thing for me, and measure your car's actual wheelbase? Also, approximately what toe settings do you have it set to?
I may have to get one of these bodies. I was previously considering the ABC Hobbies Skyline GT.
Thanks!

Wheelbase as measured is almost exactly 257mm. 2deg toe-in rear, 1deg toe-out up front. The Datsun body is listed at 251mm WB but the vintage style wheel wells are much larger than more modern designs so you hardly notice the 3mm in each wheel well. Besides, even on a 1:1 Z car, the wheels aren't perfectly centered to the wheel well.
If you try to run a wider wheel, you may have to trim the body a bit.

Don't forget that there is some wheelbase adjustment at each A arm depending on where you put the spacers on the inner hinge pins. If you need a shorter wheelbase move the spacers from the rear of the front A arm to the front and from the front of the rear A arm to the rear. I think there are 4mm of spacers on each A arm total, so depending on where you put them you've got up to 8mm of adjustment.

Electronics did not make the hobby shop shipment. Darn. I am so ready to finish this car up.
