I put a werks b5 in my truggy last night from a losi 454 and the carb on the werks is much wider. I need to shorten the throttle rod somehow. If I turn the radio and receiver on with trim to 0 and put the horn on the servo straight it compresses the spring about a quarter of an inch. Is it best to shorten the linkage by screwing in the thing that attachs to the carb or moving the spring stop or something else? I don't want to burn up the servo! Pic is attached.

ok. And probably i wouldn't want the spring under tension at neutral right? That would always buzz the servo? I don't think i have enough room to move the collet closest to the ball far as it will go and not have the spring under tension still.

You do want the spring about 1/8 to 1/4 inch compressed at nuetral. This makes sure that you don't get unexpected burst of power in the nuetral posittion as if keeps the carb fully closed assuming you do not put a rubber band around the carb throat to the banjo conector.

I run rubber bands for throttle return springs.

If its too long then cut it with a dremmel.

From the picture it's hard to tell but the spring coils look very close together already. Remove the collet that's nearest to the carb, then, either fit a different spring with wider coils or stretch the existing one and cut it to the correct length. The collet at the servo end should have 1-2mm of clearance between the servo arm at rest.The spring should have just enough tension to close the carb but you should also run a rubber band form the carb linkage to the fuel inlet fitting.

move the collet as far to the carb as possible and adjust your brakes as well if necessary

i had the same problem with, my eight 1.0 linkage spring some of them were too long and stiff.

so i had to cut off 2 coils or so.
