if used for drifting, TT-01 seems the go.
if plan to race, TA-05 is a good base to upgrade from.
both are entry level and good value for money with parts always available in most area's.

There are alot of TT01 fans out there but my personal opinion is to go the TA05 because I think you probably will want to grow or go faster and have a car that you may enter comps later down the road with. I won't say you could not do this with a TT01, but that car is really for a beginner and if you wish to be in this hobby longer than 6 months, you probably will get bored with it and buy a better car anyway. If you wish to get your feet wet then a TT01 is ok but a TA05 is miles better.

TT01 - shaft/beginner and very cheap $
TA05 - belt/intermediate and just a better car overall. $ is a bit more naturally.

Chalk and cheese. TT01 is very basic and meant to stay that way to keep it cheap (nevermind the blingy original stuff or aftermarket trinkets, they aren't worth the price). TA05 is an infinitely tuneable platform you can build upon, the sky being the limit.

If you mean ready assembled, look around here. If you mean kit (I don't remember these coming as RTR form factory, but might be wrong), check your local hobby shop. You have three I have visited on my last trip to Melbourne. Start with the one in the city, or the one just down from the Flinders Street station. there's also another very good shop in Box Hill. They might have something left on the shelves. If you're serious, the shop near the railway station still has a Corally RDX, maybe you can convince them to give you a good deal on it being an old kit and everything.

yea im with that i had a hpi rs4 pro 2 and sold it with all the hops and got a TB-02 and a TA-05, the TB-02 was brand new kit. the TA-05 was used and i didnt know it would be kinda hard 2 find parts for the TB-02. but far as i know that the parts on the TA-05 work with the TB-02. And some of the parts from a TB Evo 3 do too. but I know alot of ppl say that the TT01 is a Really good drift car thats mainly whats it used for. But To me i would go with a TA-05 if ur racing but even if your drifting too. just set it up for ur taste not anyone else taste ok. ur call. But i sold the ta-05 and am building on the TB-02. i also got a TB-03F its a crazy drift car. its front engine style its not hard for the back to brake loose on you.

TT01- doesnt come with THE MOST BASIC OF PARTS, ie bearings & metal centershaft have to be bough separately ** a rip off **

TA05: almost ready to race , out of the box. Not much more $$ than TT01 after buying the TT01 'upgrades'
Needs a fairly clean track/carpark as belts & gears dont like little stones etc

if you just want a fun car (or for stock/silvercan racing)
TB03: go for this one. Its what the TT01 should be (I mean its 2010 & still selling TT01 with all its sloppy parts!!!).Shaft drive. All gears are completely covered, so no issues with rocks & grit ruining gears & belts
Suspension etc is similar to TA05

Check hobby shops in Hong Kong - you will find one for a good price and shipping will still be ok included to the final price.

I agree with what everyone has said so far but here's something else to consider. If you don't want to build the car, maybe a TT-01 is better for you. There is very little to adjust and it works pretty well just the way it is. The TA-05 and TB-03 are race cars. Racers would not consider using a RTR because they want to make sure it is built correctly and they are continually tearing it down and rebuilding it to replace broken parts or upgrade with better parts or just make adjustments to the chassis. If you don't see yourself doing that, the TT-01 is a good choice. I own and race both a TA-05 V2 and a TT-01. Both are wonderful cars in their element.

TT01 is very basic, whereas the TA05 can be highly tuned. highly tuneable that it can sometimes compete with it's top-end race kits like the 416 and xrays.

think of it as the "Type R" of real cars, race-ready but not really a true race car.

do the tt01 and ta05 share compatible parts? I remember seeing a japanese guy use tb03 stering/turnbuckle/front upper and lower arms on a tt01 with 0 mods.

Is this the same with the ta05?
