Deans Ultra Plugs and alligator clips

There are no stupid questions, OK?

I'm thinking of switching to Deans, and I was wondering if the female plugs accept alligator clips directly, or if I need to use a male plug as an adapter? I connect the alligator clips of my Eagle CDC directly to Powerpoles today. Just curious whether Deans work the same way.

You'll need a male adapter. Or if your using side by side packs you can just clip your clips at the battery where the wires are soldered.

I see some guys clipping directly to the connection between the wire and the connector. I would avoid doing this however as it doesn't take much for you to bump the two alligator clips together. That was one of the reasons I have stuck with powerpoles.
