Would this make for a good vta car or not? I am interested in racing the vta class this Year, but i do not know a lot about the tamiya chassis. I do know about the tc3 torque steer and the losi xxx-s being smoother, but needs more maintence. Should i stay away from them, or are they ok?

Dont get a TT01 for racing (unless its a TT01 class)
Spend a bit more & buy a TB03R (or just a plain TB03)
or for belt cars, a TA05 or cyclone S
all much, much better chassis.

TT01's dont even come with wheel bearings(or metal centreshaft), this show's what tamiya thinks of them.

I second that. The TT01 is a beginner chassis you have to get too many hop ups in order to make it competitive and even then its so so, as for the TB03R its a great chassis right out of the box, same with the TA05.

+1 on the TA-05.

I raced mine in VTA all last year. It's durable, tunable and inexpensive. There aren't many shaft drive cars being raced anymore. There's probably a reason for that.

Not sure how the tt-01 is for racing, but most say it's not that great. But, mine was never raced just bashed around a parking lot and this thing was stout! Strong car...fun to drive too..

I bought a TT01R Type E and I'm very satisfied with it.
I raced it in our Canadian Rally class at the TCS and also in GT2 class with a black can.

Check it out on RC Mart it is on special at 105.00 and it is full of hop-ups,
is very tuneable and performs great.

RCMart has a TB03 for the same price
or a TA05 for $5 more.

TT01 are OK, (only OK).
Seriously , get a TA05 if you want something to race , as it comes in the box, NO HOPUPS NEEDED.
The big issue with some other Tamiya's (TT01, TB03,M05), even the R & PRO versions is the parts they leave out

I Had to buy bearings for my TB03R to 'fix' the steering slop. Would have added maybe $5 to the kit price (if that)- this is the Racing version?
M05PRO has see through shocks, a gimmick that actually makes them alot weaker(to the point its recommended not to use them).
on the PRO version: Turnbuckles that cant actually be adjusted with a turnbuckle wrench-, as on Normal RC cars (even the el-cheapo's)
Pull your head out Tamiya.
