I'm looking to get into the USGT class at my local track. I'm wanting to put together a car for fairly cheap. From reading the posts, it seems like the trackstar 21.5 is a good choice.
What esc would you recommend to go along with this? Do people prefer the Hobbywing Just stock esc?
Also, I see escs rated for 45a, 60a, etc. What kind of amps do the cars draw? Is 45 enough, or do I need to go higher.

He "shot himself in the face" or he would have got first. I took 3rd and I ran the Revention Pro. I don't recall what the first place ESC was but I do know he ran the 21.5 trackstar motor.

Can anyone provide a rough FDR range for this class with a 21.5 motor?

Proof that a one color paint job can still look nice if it's done right.
I use tennis racket tape on mine. It's pretty good defense against the swampy palm.
Me too. I would love to be up that way for. Considering buying an elio just so I can make it to these races that are halfway across the country.

Tennis grips are usually thicker than the badminton ones sold by Yonex, 5 bucks from amazon can last 10 wraps. I was on a japanese site and same ones were sold by sanwa but made by Yonex, go figure.

snoopy, if you are looking for a thicker tape, the stuff I use is 2.5mm thick. I use Lizardskins handlebar tape. It feels like the rubber that Oakley sunglasses use. Gets even more grippy if your hands are sweaty. I love the stuff, but you can't overlap it too much or it will be a bit too thick in those areas.

Thanks for the link. The Wilson wrap is not bad at all, but the white one shows dirt really bad. It's comfy, but I have big skinny hands and I could use it a little thicker.
This might seem crazy, but I have actually converted an old (1986) KO radio to dsm just because I like the feel of the old heavy controller. Going to do one in Spectrum compatible Orange RC diy kit eventually.

A quick show off for my Audi R8. Decals by Carl and Custom Racing Stickers. Won me concourse at our State Titles over the weekend.
Unfortunately we don't run USGT rules so there was only a handful of GT type cars and the Ride tires I bought to try on our carpet didn't work very well at all. Had to stick to foams (as seen on the car). It was only about 10 degrees Celcius inside temperature so that might have been a factor.

There was a time that I would say 50% of the USGT cars running in Indy were HPI 350Z bodies. They fit TC's great and handle really well. Now it seems guys have gotten on to other bodies but not all (Crispy). I think I might go back to the 350Z. Either that or another PROTOForm Z-L1 Camaro.

can anybody tell me what tires the usgt tire compares to? i just bought a set and they are very soft. just wondering what they are comparable to. i mounted mine on ride 16 spoke wheels. the carcass seems to flatten out considerably. im used to running d compound hpi vta tires. our classes out here in northwest they combine usgt and vta into scale spec. and everybody runs d compound. i can make them work well but im making an attempt to split the classes for the winter. well thats the idea. the tires are very inexpensive even with rims. less expensive than a full set of vta tires and wheels. so let me know what they compare to. thanks in advance.

your missing my point. im trying to get as much info available to present this to the committee to get our scale spec class separated. i want to run the nat point system but with our classes combined it wont happen. i want to present tire cost factors and compound comparability and other factors to the committee. I would also like to know what the durability and how long the tires last on pavement and on carpet. im would gather the tires last fairly long on carpet. i can run a set of vta tires a full season on carpet. but the vta tires get pretty chewed on pave. so im wondering what the pave situation is. how long they last etc.. i want more than its just a spec tire so what does it matter kind of answer.
