I was wondering what would be a good FDR to start with for a Novak 17.5 motor, for foam carpet racing. I will be powering the car with a Reedy 5000 35c lipo. Any info would be great.
Thanks Bill

Without knowing your track layout and what make of speedo, I don't know if your questioned can be answered accurately.
I can tell you I run a XXX-S on prepped parking lot tracks with some decent straights (140-170') so I have the car geared between 4.30 and 4.45 (with a Tekin RS). I have a buddy with a XXX-S who runs a Novak 17.5 with a GTB and he is geared lower; 4.24 I think. I am going to guess your track is smaller so try high 4's and try it out. Run it for 3 mins and temp it. Anything below 150 is safe.
Hope this general info gets you going in the right direction at least.

Dusted off my Losi XXXS G+
I have been asleep for about 2-3 years and my Losi XXXS-G+ has old type battery, motor etc. My ride is very basic and belt is yellow with very few mods. I will run at local shop on carpet with curved track and would like to do two things:
1. I like the new Trans Am bodies, so TA setup (72 Chevelle?)
2. Regular 10th scale carpet setup non TA.
I need recommendations for a complete setup of motor, controller, battery and tires for each, (battery and motor and controller probably the same?)
I have a Turbo 35 charger & Pulsar Competition charger , can this handle the new battery types?
Help an old man beat up on you youngins.
Thanks

My XXX-S which I sold 4 years ago and recently bought back! It needed a bit of work when I got it back but now it goes like it's on rails again

I love it! With Brushless and LiPo it's immense.

Oh Man....xxx-s threads all over the place. Just thought I'd play traffic cop and maybe we can direct questions to the best thread. Aside from this thread, which I think is one of the originals, There are 2 more specific ones which might help. John Stranahan has one geared more toward those who race the X in mod classes and there's one I recently started for those who race stock, vta. or rcgt.
John's thread offers up some fantastic technical stuff that he has learned from racing his own car AND from his engineering background. Be prepared to be stunned by his expert advice !!
Mine is also based on practical experience as I race my X car in RCGT and VTA class. I'm definitely no engineer though so I'm relying on all those who race the car to chime in with experiences, tips, tricks and general talk about how the beloved xxx-s is still a fantastic racer.
Take your pic folks, there's plenty of info available. Just another thing to love about the X. C Ya on Track.

Losi XXX-S G+ VTA setup
Well, I ordered a 21.5 Novak combo weeks ago from lhs, it never came in, so I cancelled it when the rules changed and have been waiting on a 25.5 motor. Are they being made as yet? Anyway I got a Epic 2 17.5/Novak GTB in the car and have been using it as a TC , until my son gets the Camaro painted and I get a 25.5. Are they having manufacturing problems?

It's highly doubtful you'll find a new G+ on the shelf. The car has been discontinued for some time. Many good deals on Ebay and occasionally you'll find a Graphite conversion kit for sale...possibly new.

But,isn΄t discontinued forever?I didn΄t find anything in ebay .

Unfortunatly the only kit u will get new is the rtr kit
seeing as the xxxs is approx 10years old now
the jrxs was the car to replace the xxxs and then the jrxs type r replaced that
pretty much all parts are still available for the xxxs - with exception to new graphite chassis'
I myself have been running a rtr chassis lately and it performs great
