Sup people!

I recently got a used xxx-s rtr and am looking for some info? The drivetrain seems like it's binding or something? Could it be that I just need to tear it down and clean it out?

Another thing also is that I ran it for like a minute and the motor and motor wires got really hot, and the esc was warm. I'm thinking the motor might be the cause or could it again be the drivetrain?

I really like the car otherwise and have wanted one for awhile as one of my favorite old cars was a JRX2! And would like to find the easiest way to get it running a little smoother.

Thanks for any info/help!

my rtr was/still is quite stiff, but not to the point where my motor was being overworked. Your diffs may be too tight. a little test is to raise one side of your car from the ground and hit the gas, with pressure on the grounded wheels. if all 4 are turning then its too tight, only the raised wheels should be spinning. Other than that, people say my drivetrain is tight but according to the manual its fine.

I also recently removed all my bearings, soaked them in lighter fluid for a day, re-lubed and only put on 1 sheild, leaving the exposed side to the inside. this seems to have freed up my car a little more. next step for me is to get the black long belt system.

Pull the motor out and see if there are any binds. If so that'll cause the motor to get hot like that. If it is binding I'd tear it down and bebuild it completely.

Default Lexan Motor Cooling Fin

I heard about some guys in Phoenix bolting on a piece of lexan somehow around the motor in the XXX-S to channel more air to the motor and it apparently helps dramatically with cooling. Does anyone have a pix of this?

not the same, but on a similar note, does anyone have a picture of the plactic antenna mod some use to keep the wire under the body? ive heard of cutting a coke bottle and wrapping the wire around that. im just wondering how its mounted to the chassis

I tried something like that on a Yokomo SD, and it didn't help much at all... if you want to keep things cooled down, run a fan.

What is the trick to do for the stock servo saver? I would touch the boards and my steering would drift the car to the left or the right depending what side I hit the boards. I am using the stock Servo Saver in the stock configuration witha JR Digital 8450 Servo

Thanks

Mike

But what do you break when you could have used a servo saver and and not broken that part. I went back to the stock servo saver after breaking the servo bellcranks.

I got rid of the servo saver as well... never had any problems with any broken parts, but I do stay off the pipes.

Assuming you are using the low holes for the pivot block and a 0 block, it will be 0
