Thanks a lot to everybody! I see that the "air gap" is matter of discussion for all...Anyway I will try both the solutions (with no air gap and with a lot of) on the track, I believe vent holes can help, and possibly careful driving!

it also finishes races. Just like every other car when it first came out it had a few bugs but they were addressed and the car a better because of it. The SD is an improvement over the SP (I'm being told) but IMO the car still isn't as consistent as the Losi. If your car is dialed one weekend and you race that same track with the same layout the following weekend the car should work right????? I'm not seeing that with the Yok. That has always been the case with Yok. When the car works it's hard to catch with a good driver behind the wheel. I'd lay off of the SD for about another two months so that some of the bugs are worked out.

Got the right shock bodies and shafts on the rear. I'll double check the droop screws when I get home from work. Which I should do because I just rebuilt the shocks.

Another question. We used to run the Street Weapon and Yoks with 60-80 wt shock oil. 35/30 seems awefully light in the XXX-S.
Can someone explain why the lighter oil.

I agree with STLNST that the Yok is more inconsistant. From experiance I run at an indoor asphalt track and my XXX-S G+ works the same everyweek no matter what the temp of layout is. My Yok was fast but every week I would have to mess with it a little to keep it fast and consistant. If I had to change foams to another set it was worse even if they were the same compound tires. I really like the new SD but I think I would wait a little to see if they make some minor changes to make it more of a consistant car.

We had two guys show up last week with the new SD and it is a nice looking car and worked fairly well. The guys liked them but said the same thing that they were inconsistant but when working were pretty fast.

Double checked the shocks to make sure the long shafts were in the long bodies, OK.

Lengthened the shocks to no effect. I'm starting to thing the oil is just to thin to hold the car up. I'm running an old Teking 411-G2 which is pretty big and heavy for today's standards.

THe thinner oil really helps the car. To thick of an oil will make the car less responsive and may push really bad when you need it to respond quicker. This past weekend at the Speedworld Cup we were running 40wt oil with 56 pistons. Try the car your way and then try coming down in oil some and see how you like it. What works for me may not work for you and vice versa. What spring do you plan on running with the thicker oil? Please keep us updated on what you find out.

Default Rear ride height....

I had a similar rear ride height problem. I had a hard time getting 5mm on my setup board so I switched to 1.15" rear springs. That fixed the problem but I also noticed that it only appeared on a freshly built car and seemed to get better after I ran it a few times.

Good luck.

Since I always start with the box setup I haven't actually tried the heavier oil yet. There are no racing oriented LHS's in the Austin area so I will have to start with the kit springs.

Shock setup is such - front: 35 wt, purple springs
rear: 30 wt, silver springs

I chose the oil based on the Ready setup. Also, our track is not located near a LHS so this first weekend will be based on what I got.
