Hi all!

Is the associated TC5r considered to be the latest version?


Would you guys recommend this for a newbie or this model requires an expert to tune it?

The TC5R is the latest AE model and does not require any special building or tuning skills compared to any other competition R/C car.

The TC5R isn't necessarily the latest and greatest, but it's designed specifically for running rubber tires. Since rubber tires have less consistent traction than foams, the 5R has a more flexible chassis and softer suspension -- softer springs and more flexible suspension parts.

All modern touring cars have a similar range of adjustments, and similar complexity. If you're new to TCs, pay attention to the instructions when you build the car. The "kit" setup will be very close to ideal for most conditions. This thread gives you thousands of opinions about what is the best way to go about making the TC5 faster/better. Make changes one at a time and make notes about the results.

Best advice I got when starting out was to make sure the loose nut behind the wheel is adjusted properly.

I think the OP is asking if it he TC5 is the latest and greatest from associated... and the answer is yes.

The TC5 is a great car, for any driver of any level. The kit isn't expensive, and neither are replacement parts, its as easy to work on as anything else, which all make the car great for a beginner, but it can also compete at the highest level in the hands of a pro.
