TRF801 GT Build project
#16
Update: Some will be disappointed and some will be excited.
This project is going to be a TRF 801 GT-E .. Tekin RX8 1700 KV system will be installed.
I recently learned that Tamiya is about to release an E 801X, unfortunately the chassis is different, so this will be based on the original chassis.
For the time being it will be single speed without the spool. Later I may go 2 speed.

Custom Front / Rear shock towers and radio plate have finally been fabricated. Thanks to SNR-Graphite!
These are a hybrid between the TRF801X and the Inferno GT. Bottom uses TRF801X mount holes and camber link and top uses shock mount positions from Inferno GT.
I should have these by weeks end. Next up, custom centre drive shaft with single gear.

Thanks guys.
I agree! I'm hoping to get Tamiyas attention with this. I have the same thread on Tamiyarconroad and the moderator who is a Tamiya employee is keeping tabs and likes what he sees.
Aside from Tamiya, I'm surprised HPI has not hopped on the GT wagon. They're big on scale realism with the bodies they offer, so this should be a natural fit for them.

Received custom front / rear shock towers today and installed them on car. Also installed Radio plate along with shocks.
Front and rear body mount, along with front bumper are from Kyosho Inferno GT.
Will definitely need to find firmer springs. Hoping to find ones that fit the TRF dampers, otherwise will have to switch to Kyosho and Ofna.
Hoping the pinion will clear the radio plate! Looks like I'm cutting it close though
Ferrari pre-marked mount holes looks like it lines up with front body mounts fine. Rear will need 2 mm of spacing to match up with dimples.
Next up, custom front centre shaft and motor mount from Elite RC.

Tech Rookie
Can you guys give me some insight on these and maybe another one to look at?

If that is the case, you might eithor measure the kysho arms to see if they fit or try to find a different offset rim or mybe find special wheel hub that spaces out the wheel a little.
